Vidhana Soudha police register FIR against KPSC chairman’s daughter over fake income certificate

The Vidhana Soudha Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the daughter of a former member and current chairman of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) for allegedly securing selection to a government post by submitting a false income certificate.According to the FIR, the accused Suma S. Sahukar allegedly claimed reservation benefits under the 3B category by producing an Income and Asset Certificate that declared her family’s annual income as ₹40,000.

The certificate was submitted during the KPSC recruitment process for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil) for the department of industries and commerce in March 2024. Sahukar, had been serving as a Member of the Karnataka Public Service Commission from September 3, 2019, drawing a basic monthly salary of approximately ₹2.

05 lakh, and was later appointed as the Chairman of KPSC on April 5, 2021, with a basic monthly salary of approximately ₹2.25 lakh, in addition to other admissible allowances.The Commission observed that the family’s actual income appeared to be significantly higher than the amount declared in the certificate and that it exceeded the prescribed income limit for eligibility under the 3B reservation category under the applicable Government Orders.

Based on the complaint, the Vidhana Soudha Police have registered a case under Sections 336(2), 336(3), and 340(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and have commenced an investigation.Police officials said the authenticity of the documents and the circumstances surrounding the recruitment are being examined. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
