In a statement carried by the state-run Korean Central News Agency Monday, Kim denounced the ASEAN Regional Forum(ARF) Chairman’s statement issued Saturday after the annual foreign ministers’ meeting in Manila, Philippines, for dismissing the North’s Constitution, and called it “pitiful.” Kim said nuclear deterrence is the “ultimate shield” for national sovereignty and the “supreme guarantee” in defending sovereignty and that the North’s position and significance in existence as a responsible nuclear weapons state are “final and irreversible.”
The leader’s sister added that the regime’s nuclear capability will be continuously updated without a momentary stagnation.
