The Dalit Bahujan Research Centre (DBRC) organised a gender sensitisation programme for women in Vijayawada on Wednesday, highlighting women’s rights, opportunities available to them and the distinction between sex and gender.According to a release, resource persons explained that gender equality entails equal opportunities, equal rights and equal respect for women and men. They observed that gender discrimination often begins within the family and urged parents to bring up their children without bias.
The participants were encouraged to promote gender equality in education, employment, family responsibilities and married life. Interactive sessions were also conducted to enhance their understanding of gender equality and facilitate discussion on the issue.
