According to data from the Korean Film Council's box office tracking system on Sunday, the film drew five million seven thousand moviegoers as of Saturday, reaching the milestone just 24 days after opening. "Colony" has attracted audiences at the fastest pace of any film released this year, surpassing one million admissions on its fourth day, two million on its fifth, three million on its tenth and four million on its 14th day in theaters.

Its pace slowed somewhat at the five million mark, hitting the milestone on its 24th day, compared with "The King's Warden," which reached 5 million admissions on its 18th day and has gone on to draw more than 16 million moviegoers as of Friday. "Colony" follows survivors of a zombie virus outbreak trying to escape a quarantined building, including Jun Ji‑hyun as a professor, Koo Kyo‑hwan as a researcher with special skills, and Ji Chang‑wook and Kim Shin‑rok as members of the survivor group.
