Where Auburn stands with Kynair Crumb as commitment date looms
Three-star safety Knyair Crumb will announce his commitment on Wednesday. Will Auburn football strengthen its Maryland pipeline and land him?
Auburn defensive coordinator DJ Durkin has built a strong recruiting pipeline in Maryland over the last several years. Could it grow on Wednesday?Three-star defensive back Knyair Crumb is set to announce his commitment on Wednesday evening, and Auburn is the lone SEC school in the battle for the Hyattsville, Maryland native, and will need to beat out Virginia Tech, Penn State, and Syracuse to win his pledge.
Where does Auburn stand ahead of his announcement? As it stands during the early afternoon hours of Wednesday, June 17, Auburn is expected to land the talented defensive back. Auburn currently holds two crystal ball predictions from 247Sports recruiting experts and one from Rivals expert Chad Simmons, who logged a prediction on June 1 that favored Auburn as the winning program.
Rivals believes the race will be down to Auburn and Syracuse, with Auburn holding a 93% edge. Auburn's confidence stems from Crumb's visit to the Plains in May, which was a "mind opener" according to Rivals' Jeffrey Lee. Crumb told Lee that he made it a priority to visit Auburn during the spring and that his primary recruiter, safeties coach Tim Banks, painted an accurate picture of what Auburn is, which works in Auburn's favor.
Landing a commitment from Crumb could bring more positive news, as Crumb's high school teammate at DeMantha Catholic, James Pace, could join him. Pace will announce his commitment on Friday, and Auburn is believed to be the favorite to land him. Crumb is the No.
9 player from Maryland in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and is No. 43 among 2027 safeties according to Rivals rankings. He will announce his commitment on Wednesday at 5 p.
