UW announcer Tony Castricone confirmed on social media that he is leaving the school to join the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers radio team.
University of Washington sports are in need of a new voice for some of their play-by-play broadcasts.Announcer Tony Castricone confirmed in video posted on social media Tuesday that he is leaving the school to join the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers radio team. Castricone spent nine years calling games for the UW football and men's basketball teams.
In the three minute video posted on Tuesday, June 23, Castricone described "an incredible nine years" as "more than I ever could've asked for." He thanked God, his wife and family members, UW staff, head coaches, student athletes, local media members and his broadcast crew."And finally, to you fans -- you all make this the greatest setting in college football.
Thank you for welcoming in a kid from a 46-acre pine tree farm from Centerbrg, Ohio to the Pacific Northwest and making me one of your own," Castricone said. "It has been the honor and privilege of a lifetime to share the last nine years worth of fantastic memories with you."Thank you, #HuskyNation.
