VinFast Auto expects to reach break-even in its domestic market by 2027, with global profitability anticipated shortly afterwards, according to the deputy chief executive officer of investment Anne Pham, who was speaking at the Bloomberg Sustainable Business Summit in Singapore. The Vietnamese EV manufacturer's recently introduced VF 2 model, priced at VND188m ($7,144.62) inclusive of battery, is expected to bolster domestic sales after drawing around 29,000 orders within three days of its early-July launch.

VinFast delivered 115,916 vehicles to customers in Vietnam during the first half of the year, a rise of 72% compared with the same period last year, according to an exchange filing cited in the report. The manufacturer is aiming for global deliveries of at least 300,000 EVs during 2026, building on roughly 200,000 units sold in 2025. It posted a net loss of VND28.

1tn in the first quarter, 58.9% wider than a year earlier, amid rising costs tied to its international expansion. The company is currently engaged in a legal dispute concerning its proposed manufacturing facility in North Carolina, after the state filed a lawsuit in May alleging VinFast had breached agreements linked to the project and seeking to reclaim the site.

Pham declined to comment on the firm's US factory plans but said its North America sales strategy remains "on course". VinFast has established factories in India and Indonesia and intends to expand localised manufacturing across both markets. The company indicated it remains open to acquisitions and partnerships as part of its international growth strategy, though Pham did not identify specific target markets.

On 27 May, shareholders approved a proposal to transfer VinFast's Vietnamese factories to a separate entity in order to reduce debt, a move expected to generate VND13.3tn for the company. Pham noted that the Middle East conflict, which has pushed up fuel prices, has contributed to faster EV adoption in recent months.

She added that sales in Vietnam have remained "fairly strong", while deliveries in Indonesia and the Philippines are picking up pace. Separately, VinFast was named last month among Vietnamese firms under consideration for investment in Philippine economic zones, following a diplomatic upgrade between Vietnam and the Philippines. In the same month, the company extended its reach into Kazakhstan through the launch of its Green SM ride-hailing service, marking its first foray into Central Asia as part of its broader international expansion.
