, SThD, who is a formator, biblical scholar, and seasoned educator to a four-year term effective July 1, 2026.A decree was issued by dicastery secretary Archbishop Carlo Roberto Maria Redaelli last July 7, 2026 as requested by Dominican Master and UST Grand Chancellor Fr. Gerard Francisco Timoner III and the nomination of UST Rector Fr.
Richard Ang.Marquez recently served as vice rector and acting rector of the Central Seminary.He served as rector and president of Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Manila and Bataan.
At the University, Marquez also held the positions of vice rector, vice rector for Finance, and director of the Institute of Religion."We pray for God’s abundant grace upon the Seminary’s new Rector as he undertakes this ministry of forming and shepherding future priests for the Church in the Philippines," the university said in a statement.CBCP News reported that the UST Central Seminary that was founded in 1611, was declared an interdiocesan seminary by the Vatican’s Sacred Congregation on Catholic Universities and Seminaries in 1928 and is known to have formed generations of diocesan priests, bishops and other Church leaders.
