Trivandrum Heritage Run to showcase Kerala capital’s cultural landscape

Runners will get an opportunity to experience the history and cultural landscape of Kerala’s capital on foot when the inaugural Trivandrum Heritage Run is held on August 9.Organised by ITEN Runners Club Trivandrum, the 10-km run will take participants through the heart of the city, connecting several of Thiruvananthapuram’s prominent historical, cultural, educational, and religious landmarks. The event has been conceived as an annual initiative, combining fitness with an appreciation of the city’s heritage and diverse character.

Starting and finishing at Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium, the route will pass through LMS Church, Napier Museum, Kanakakkunnu Palace, the Kerala Lok Bhavan area, Kowdiar Palace area, St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral, Palayam Juma Masjid, Sree Sakthi Vinayaka Temple, University College, Government Ayurveda College, and Sanskrit College.Unlike many running events in the city that are held along the bypass or coastal stretches, the heritage run will take runners through central Thiruvananthapuram.

The route has been designed to offer participants a different perspective of the city by bringing together landmarks that reflect its history, architecture, educational legacy, and religious diversity.The organisers expect around 1,000 participants from Kerala and other parts of the country for the inaugural edition. All registered runners will receive an official event T-shirt and a finisher medal, along with breakfast, on-route hydration and sponsored goodies.
