As part of the Karnataka government’s ambitious vision to position the State as a globally competitive tourism destination, a high-level consultative workshop to develop global standard tourist destinations will be held at Hampi on July 7.A release from the Tourism Department stated that the State-level workshop would be chaired by Energy and Tourism Minister K.J.
George and would be attended by Suvashish Das, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism. The release further stated, “The workshop is being organised to plan the future course of Karnataka’s tourism sector through comprehensive, 360-degree deliberations by identifying destinations with the potential to be developed as global-standard tourism hubs. Based on the recommendations emerging from here, the government is expected to finalise the first set of priority destinations that will be developed under the Global Standard Tourist Destinations initiative.”
The selected destinations will be developed with world-class infrastructure, enhanced visitor experiences, sustainable tourism practices, strategic private investment, and international branding, with the objective of positioning Karnataka among India’s leading global tourism destinations.Mr. George said, “This workshop marks a significant milestone in Karnataka’s journey towards building a world-class tourism ecosystem.
By bringing together government, industry, investors and tourism experts on a common platform, we aim to formulate a clear roadmap for developing globally competitive tourist destinations. The decisions taken during this workshop will shape the future growth of Karnataka’s tourism sector over the next decade and strengthen the state’s position on the global tourism map.”Participants will deliberate on key parameters for destination selection, including infrastructure development, visitor experience, private sector investment, environmental sustainability, community participation, connectivity, destination branding, international marketing, and sustainable tourism models.
Experts from various sectors will present recommendations and share global best practices to help formulate a long-term development strategy, the release stated.
