In a tragic incident, three persons, including a young advocate, who were riding a two-wheeler were killed when a speeding car hit the bike from behind near Tirupachethi toll plaza in Sivaganga district on Thursday.Police said advocate Pandiarajan, 32, of Vadakarai in Tiruppuvanam was travelling on a two-wheeler with two of his friends — Sibi Chakravarthi, 28, and Venkatesan, 27 — riding pilion. The trio were returning home from Kaanur.
When they were approaching the toll plaza, a speeding car, proceeding from Salaigramam towards Madurai, hit the two-wheeler from behind. In the impact, all the three riders were thrown off the bike, and died on the spot.The bodies were sent to Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that the car was heading to Nagamalai Pudukottai in Madurai. The driver, Arvind Kumar, was detained for interrogation. A case has been registered.
