Three arrested with ₹20.56 lakh worth ganja at Secunderabad Railway Station

Three persons, including a 17-year-old boy, were apprehended for allegedly transporting 41.131 kg of ganja worth ₹20.56 lakh from Odisha to Maharashtra during a joint operation by the Government Railway Police (GRP), the EAGLE force and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Secunderabad Railway Station on Sunday.

The arrested accused were identified as Mahesh Dilip Wandhare, 25, and Kartik Chandrakant Ambe, 30, along with a 17-year-old boy, all from Nagpur. The were apprehended and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. Police identified the alleged supplier as Sanju Sahu of Balangir, Odisha, who is absconding.

According to investigators, the trio was transporting the contraband from Balangir to Nagpur via Secunderabad. Police said Mahesh had allegedly come into contact with Sanju Sahu about two months ago, when he was offered ₹5,000 for every trip transporting marijuana. He later roped in Kartik, and the juvenile subsequently joined the operation.

On July 3, the accused allegedly collected 40 packets of marijuana from the supplier at Balangir Railway Station. Mahesh concealed 20 packets in a trolley suitcase and a backpack, while Kartik and the juvenile carried 10 packets each in separate backpacks.The three travelled on the Nagavali Express and reached Charlapally Railway Station on July 4.

Acting on instructions from the supplier, they later proceeded to Secunderabad Railway Station on Sunday to board the Dakshin Express to Nagpur.As the train was scheduled to depart later in the night, they waited in the general waiting hall with the luggage. During surprise checks conducted at about 2.

30 p.m., police questioned the trio, who allegedly admitted that the bags contained marijuana.

Police seized 41.131 kg of marijuana valued at ₹20,56,550. A case was registered under Section 8(c) read with Section 20(b)(ii)(C) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and Section 78 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.
