Cafe$$$$ A country record is playing, the air smells of freshly brewed Single O coffee, and a spoonful of cultured butter is slowly melting into your salty-sweet bowl of rhubarb porridge.

As sunlight warms the soft-to-touch banquette seating, it’s hard to imagine a better place to spend a lazy Sunday – especially now the queues have abated. Superfreak’s menu is health-forward and on-trend (hello, $14 spirulina smoothie), but it’s seasonal specials such as toasted sourdough – carefully decorated with house-made fennel and onion jam, prosciutto, whipped ricotta and pear – that hit hardest. Best for: Aesthetic afternoon tea and a moment of morning zen.

Good Food reviews are booked anonymously and paid independently. A restaurant can’t pay for a review or inclusion in the Good Food Guide. Restaurant reviews, news and the hottest openings served to your inbox.
