Steelers updated salary cap status
The Pittsburgh Steelers have done some serious spending this offseason and here is where they stand with the salary cap.
This offseason has been one of great spending for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh has paid out some massive contracts, including one to quarterback Aaron Rodgers, a massive extension to EDGE Nick Herbig and multiple other deals to new players, including cornerback Jamel Dean. Here is all the current information related to the salary cap for the Steelers.
Pittsburgh currently has just $3,192,669 million in cap space according to Over The Cap. This ranks near the bottom of all 32 NFL teams in terms of available space. There is only one team right now, the Miami Dolphins, who remain over the cap.
Of the Steelers salary cap, $195,570,982 million of it is committed to defense. Despite a renewed focus on the offense with new head coach Mike McCarthy in place, the Steelers will still have the most expensive defense in the NFL in 2026 and that number is only going to go up. The Steelers have $139,963,746 spent on the offensive side of the football with wide receiver D.
K. Metcalf's $31 million cap hit leading the way. Pittsburgh has spent $8,188,334 on special teams thanks to a huge new contract to kicker Chris Boswell, making him the highest-paid in the NFL.
