Thanks to the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu, Star Wars is officially entering a new era. Though The Mandalorian and Grogu's box office performance has been very underwhelming — it's on track to be the worst-earning live-action Star Wars movie ever released — it's still an important movie for the franchise. It was the franchise's first film in seven years following The Rise of Skywalker, and the first based on characters from a Star Wars television show.
