× A former star has revealed that Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu are modelled on a WWE legend and it is easy to see as to why that would be the case. Ad Solo and Jacob bear a striking resemblance to former WWE star Umaga, who sadly passed away in 2009. Solo also uses The Spike as his finisher which was also made famous by his late uncle, Umaga.
Luke Menzies, who was known as Ridge Holland during his time with the Stamford based promotion, sat down with Sports Jedi Network and spoke about how the company modelled those two stars around Umaga. “WWE always has a way, for instance if you look at Solo or Jacob Fatu, it’s like ‘Ok, we’re gonna make them Umaga, because they know that Umaga worked in the past, so they already have a recipe there that works,” he said. [34:13 - 34:30] Ad Trending Menzies also claimed that if the company has to try something new, they might shy away from it as there is no guarantee that it would work.
“But if it’s something they have to create something that’s totally new, they might shy away from it because they don’t know that it might not work. It’s a lot easier to stay safe and say ‘Well, this recipe works.” [34:31 - 34:42] Ad Ad Luke Menzies reveals there was no reference point for Brawling Brutes in WWE In the same podcast, the former NXT Tag Team Champion, who was also a part of the Brawling Brutes along with Pete Dunne and Sheamus, said that the group had no reference point like Solo and Jacob had with Umaga.
"With us (Brawling Brutes), there was no reference point for booking. Pete (Dunne) was in a new character. He wasn’t The Bruiserweight.
He was Butch. Sheamus, that was fine, Hall of Fame career by that point. For us it was kind of like we’ll just turn up to work, do what we’re told, do it to the best of our ability, and hopefully it works out."
