Singappen Special Force team rescues family isolated in house due to poverty

The Singappen Special Action Force team in Sivaganga rescued a family that remained inside their locked hut due to poverty and admitted them to a home for destitutes in the district.Ramesh, 42, a mentally-challenged person, who is living with his wife Pappa, 40, and four children aged 17, 14, 12 and 12, near Keezhachalur in Sivaganga could not find a job for several months due to his health condition.Pappa, who was suffering from various health issues, was also unable to go for manual labour.

The family was left stranded at home due to poverty, surviving on PDS rice. They could not afford to educate their children either. Pappa’s mother-in-law worked as a manual labourer and managed to educate only the two daughters aged 12 at a government school.

Due to the lack of proper nutritious food, they were also in poor health.Upon learning about this, the Singappen Special Action Force, led by Sub-Inspector Ganga Devi, rescued Pappa and her four children and admitted them to a destitute home in Sivaganga.Mr.

Ganga Devi said, “On behalf of the Singappen Special Action Force, we conducted an awareness programme on the safety of women and children in Keezhachallur.”At that time, the villagers informed them about the condition of Pappa’s family, she added.When the team went and saw the house, they learned that the family’s condition was very pathetic.

As Ramesh’s mother said that she would take care of her mentally-challenged son herself, the Singappen team rescued the other five members and admitted them to a destitute home through the District Child Protection Officer, Ms. Ganga Devi said.
