SRIKAKULAM:The nationwide bandh called by Left parties over alleged irregularities related to the NEET and other national-level examinations got a mixed response in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts.Though the Left parties tried to enforce closure of schools and educational institutions in Srikakulam, many schools refused to participate in view of the Mega Parent-Teachers’ meeting on Friday. As a result, tension prevailed at some places.
Addressing the media, CPI-M Srikakulam District Secretary D. Govinda Rao on Friday said that the Union government had failed to understand the aspirations of the young generation in spite of their relentless fight for the implementation of reforms in the education system.Teachers in government schools declined to participate in the bandh, saying that the PTM was crucial for improving academic standards in schools.
In Vizianagaram district, the bandh received a mixed response. To prevent any untoward incidents, the police department deployed additional forces at important schools and colleges to stop agitators from entering those institutions.
