The New Orleans Saints begin running practices on Tuesday, and they are also hosting a couple of former standout players from the UFL.The first of the workouts for the Saints was quarterback Hunter Dekkers, a familiar face for the black and gold.

Dekkers was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Saints in 2025 after the promising prospect’s draft stock had plummeted due to a gambling scandal during his time in college. Dekkers, 6-foot-2, played in five games for the Houston Gamblers, completing 61.6% of his passes for 749 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Dekkers also used his legs, adding 74 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. The next workout for New Orleans is another Houston Gambler, Dekkers’ target Jalen Moreno-Cropper. The 6-foot wideout appeared in seven games for the Gamblers in 2026, catching 22 passes for 291 yards.

Cropper went undrafted in the NFL in 2023, despite an impressive 4.4 40-yard dash and an impressive 1,086-yard season during his final season at Fresno State. As training camp approaches and the team prepares its preseason rosters, making sure they don’t leave any stones unturned is important.

Dekkers has a lot of promising physical attributes, and Cropper has produced well at the college level.
