Rich Paul says as many as 12 teams have called him about LeBron James
Rich Paul, LeBron James' longtime friend and agent, claimed that as many as 12 teams have called him about the superstar.
No one knows right now which NBA team LeBron James will play for next season, or if he will simply retire this offseason. But there will almost certainly be multiple teams vying for his services.Of course, the Los Angeles Lakers almost certainly want James to stay put on a new contract.
The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors have been talked about endlessly as other possible destinations for the 41-year-old future Hall of Famer.Rich Paul, James' longtime friend and agent, said recently during an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" that he hasn't "had one conversation" with James about free agency. He also claimed that a number of teams have contacted him about the superstar.
“I tell you guys this, there have been incoming calls from every team with the excitement of possibly him playing for them,” Paul said. “And so at 41 years of age going on 42, I think that's something to be extremely proud about, and it's one of those things where it's like, ‘Wow, even at 42, I'm still wanted,’ that's admirable.”Host Pat McAfee then asked Paul to put a number on how many teams have shown interest in James.
“I would say without naming names, I would say about 10 to 12,” the agent responded.James is coming off his record 23rd season in the NBA, during which he put up 20.9 points, 6.
1 rebounds and 7.2 assists a game, and during the playoffs, with Luka Doncic out due to a hamstring strain, James averaged 23.2 points, 6.
7 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game. Without Doncic, the Lakers were swept in the second round of the playoffs by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
He seems to have a good amount of game left in his tank, which should make him an attractive prospect for a healthy number of teams. But in all likelihood, James will have a very short list of teams he will consider playing for, and that list could ultimately include only one team. This article originally appeared on LeBron Wire: Rich Paul says as many as 12 teams have called him about LeBron James
