Revenue dept. targets 25,000 pending land cases in Kozhikode

The Revenue department has initiated a targeted action plan to clear pending applications for land category conversion and title deed distribution in a time-bound manner, Revenue Minister A.P. Anil Kumar has said.

Addressing a review meeting of Revenue officials at the Collectorate here on Friday (July 24), the Minister said that resolving long-pending land disputes and expediting service delivery would be the main agenda of the department’s 100-day action plan. He added that he had evaluated the progress of key initiatives, including the digital resurvey programme and land acquisition proceedings for development projects across the district.Highlighting the magnitude of pendency across the State, Mr.

Anil Kumar noted that nearly 2.5 lakh applications for land conversion remained pending Statewide, with Kozhikode district accounting for over 35,000 cases. “Under the 100-day programme, the government has set a target to clear a minimum of 25,000 applications in the district.

Revenue officials have agreed to complete more applications other than the assigned quota to ensure maximum relief,” he said.The Minister also promised that a lenient stance would be adopted toward applications involving small landholdings between five and 15 cents. Priority would be given to individuals seeking land conversion for residential construction, he explained.

According to Mr. Anil Kumar, the department will also fast-track title deed distribution by removing legal and administrative bottlenecks affecting coastal communities and fisher families. Special focus would be given to eligible beneficiaries holding 10 to 15 cents of land in high-range, tribal and Scheduled Caste settlements, he said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Anil Kumar urged field-level staff to adopt a public-centric approach. “Access to public service is a fundamental right.

Officials must attentively hear public grievances, extend all possible assistance, and maintain transparency when requests cannot be executed within the existing legal parameters,” he said.Later, interacting online with village officers, the Minister reminded them that village offices should serve as the primary points of contact between citizens and the administration, demanding a heightened sense of responsibility.
