Report: Celtics forward Hugo Gonzalez to play with Spain for 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers
The Madrid native will play with Willy Hernangomez, brother of ex-Celtics forward Juancho Hernangomez.
Boston Celtics second year forward Hugo Gonzalez will be suiting up for the Spanish National Team this summer after missing the chance to play for his home country in last year's Eurobasket play as the former Real Madrid wing was committed to his rookie responsibilities with Boston, per recent reporting from BasketNews. Gonzalez and his national team will face Denmark and the Republic of Georgia in Madrid on July 2 and Tbilisi on July 5 respectively for the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers.The Madrid native will play with Willy Hernangomez on the Spanish National Team, brother of ex-Celtics forward Juancho Hernangomez.
Willy Hernangomez, is the captain of the team.The Celtics forward will play alongside other younger prospects like Izan Almansa, Mario Saint-Supery, Alvaro Cardenas. He will also get some seasoning with vets Alberto Diaz, Dario Brizuela, Joel Parra, Pierre Oriola, Santi Yusta, and Oriol Pauli.
