Detroit — The Red Wings aren't spending time Up North this training camp.The Wings announced their shortened exhibition season Tuesday, and at the same time, said they will not hold training camp in Traverse City, which they've done for nearly 30 years.Because of the new collective bargaining agreement, veteran players only spend 13 days (18 for rookies) at training camp.

It used to be 21 days.Also, there are only four exhibition games now, whereas in the past, the Wings would have as many as eight or nine preseason games.The Wings will report to training camp beginning Sept .

17 at BELFOR Training Center at Little Caesars Arena and have their first exhibition game Sept. 21 in Columbus. The Wings play in Pittsburgh on Sept.

22, then conclude the exhibition season with games Sept. 24 against Buffalo and Sept. 26 against Columbus.

The annual prospects tournament will also take place in Detroit, at BELFOR Training Center from Sept. 12-15. Top young players from the Wings, Columbus, Pittsburgh and Dallas will play face each other.
