Speaking at the San Francisco AI Summit on Friday local time, Lee said South Korea will build on its world-leading memory chip industry to become a trusted producer of AI semiconductors and a key supply chain partner.
He also pledged to expand AI infrastructure by investing in data centers and physical AI while accelerating AI adoption across industries and public services. Lee said the government plans to launch its "AI for All" project later this year, bringing AI into everyday life for the country's 50 million people. He called on global companies to join South Korea's AI drive, saying the country aims to become a platform connecting technology, capital, talent and innovation.
Lee also stressed that AI cooperation should benefit not only advanced economies but developing countries as well, and pledged to promote human-centered AI while ensuring the benefits of the technology are shared more broadly. About 150 business leaders, researchers and investors attended the summit, including the heads of major global AI companies and South Korea's leading tech firms.
