Phillies Need to Trade for Cubs Slugger Before MLB Trade Deadline

Around Major League Baseball, there are certain teams that have been very disappointing, even if they've started to play better in recent weeks. One team in the middle of that, with some suggesting that they've been disappointing and others believing that they've been okay, are the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs, now 46-38, have some interesting decisions to make at the trade deadline, even if they become buyers.
There's certainly a sense that Chicago is going to buy a bit at the deadline, and rightfully so, as this is one of the more talented rosters in baseball. However, with certain guys set to hit the free agency market at the end of the campaign, it's never the worst idea to think about buying and selling some. One player they could look to do that with is Seiya Suzuki, a right-handed-hitting outfielder who has some pop in his bat.
Suzuki, who hasn't been as good as he was hoping to be defensively, does at least make an impact offensively for this team. He's currently hitting .262 with 12 home runs, 37 RBIs, and 66 hits.
He was recently floated as a potential option for the Phillies, though it was when the Cubs were struggling a bit more than they currently are.“The Cubs (35-34) were built to contend, and it's entirely possible they find their expected level in the weeks to come. It also bears repeating that having a third wild card spot in each league significantly lowers the bar for contention.
If, however, they decide to part with the 31-year-old Suzuki, then he could be a fit in Philly. This season, Suzuki has a 116 OPS+ with 10 homers in 55 games, and for his MLB career, he's got an OPS+ of 128 across parts of five seasons on the North Side of Chicago. Like Nootbaar above, Suzuki's not eligible for free agency until after next season,” CBS wrote.
With all of the noise surrounding Suzuki, I wouldn't be surprised to see Jed Hoyer go that direction. Hoyer has proven in the past that he's willing to move on from guys, especially ones who are set to hit the free agency m
