Pittsburgh used their first-round pick on Liam Ruck and then selected his twin brother, Markus with their first pick in the second round. The Ruck twins headlined a strong draft class for the Penguins, and The Athletic’s Scott Wheeler put Pittsburgh in the overtime winners category.“The Ruck twins, Tomas Galvas and Pierce Mbuyi, screamed Kyle Dubas/Wes Clark, and I thought the combined value for the two of them at 22, 39, 54 and 86 was strong,” Wheeler wrote.
“I’m a big fan of Galvas, a third-time's-the-charm pick who has been on my board three years running and is a high-end skater who has performed at the top of his age group both internationally and in Czechia’s pro ranks. He’s small, but his feet give him a real chance to be an NHLer, and he’s already at a level that would allow him to play top-four minutes in the AHL, so there’s little risk for me at this point.”Although Wheeler isn’t sure if Parker Von Richter will reach the NHL, who the Penguins took in the fourth round, he likes what Pittsburgh did in the first three rounds, selecting the Ruck twins, Galvas, and Pierce Mbuyi.
Ultimately, the 2026 NHL Draft appears to be a solid one for the Penguins.More NHL: Ron Francis Opens Up On Returning To Penguins Organization
