× The Spirit Walker is the second-most popular League Starter in Path of Exile 2, according to GGG's stats for the 0.5 update. A big reason for that is the boss companions and how well they perform throughout the endgame.
Being able to tame a boss and pit them against other bosses is quite satisfying, and since it's a minion build, it can be budget-friendly if you want. Ad That said, not all bosses are the best pick as your companion. In this article, we’ve compiled a tier list of the best boss companions you can tame in Path of Exile 2.
Paired with periodic buffs from Azmeri Wisps, many of them can one-shot endgame map bosses. S-tier boss companions in Path of Exile 2 1) Zekoa, the Headcrusher Monkey business (Image via GGG) If you’re aiming for the best boss companion in Path of Exile 2, then it’s undoubtedly the quadrilla monkey Zekoa. It’s the endgame variant of Mighty Silverfist and retains the 25% base Critical Hit Chance, making it a one-shot machine against most enemies and an uber bosskiller.
Just pick up all companion damage nodes in the Passive Tree, and let it swing its pillar around. You can find and tame one in the Riverside or Rupture map. Ad Trending 2) Gressor-Kul, the Apex The three-headed dog can be a good boy (Image via GGG) Gressor-Kul is the endgame variant of Xyclucian, the Chimera from Act three, and spawns as a map boss of Augury and Bluff.
One unique feature of this boss is that it can form elemental ground effects, which can be very useful if you’re running Whirlwind and Twister combination on your Huntress. Gressor-Kul can also perform periodic slam attacks that can take care of smaller enemies. Ad 3) Akthi, the Final Sting Akthi is the scorpion boss (Image via GGG || YouTuble/@4waymadalot842) If you’re playing a Poison build, Akthi may be a better fit as your boss companion in Path of Exile 2.
With an 10% Critical Hit Chance and fast attack speed, it can also deal a good amount of damage and is effective against Shielded enemies. Akthi is one of the dual bosses in Interlude 2 (The Khari Crossing) that grants you +2 Passive Skill Points after defeat. Ad A-tier boss companions in Path of Exile 2 1) Morvak, the Infernal Does anyone say slams?
(Image via GGG) Morvak is the map variant of Vornas, the Fell Flame you fight at the Galai Gates during Interlude 2. It’s another great boss companion for ground effects, but can also deal a good amount of single-target damage with occasional AoE slams. Against bosses that deal fire damage, it can hold its own.
Although we don’t recommend you match it against enemies dealing cold damage. Ad 2) Bahlak, the Sky Seer You can also tame the annoying tornado bird (Image via GGG) Another boss that has ended Ascendancy runs for many players is Bahlak, the Sky Seer, in Trial of Chaos. It's the bird that turns into a tornado that follows you around the arena.
As a boss companion in Path of Exile 2, it can use the tornado attack every 40 seconds by default, dealing a good amount of damage. It can also Maim enemies on hit, reducing their movement speed and evasion. Ad 3) Rakkar, the Frozen Talon Another bird boss companion in PoE2 (Image via GGG) Rakkar is the boss of Glacial Tarn in Path of Exile 2 Interlude 3.
It’s the same design as Bahlak. However, instead of a tornado, it encases itself in ice and emits periodic pulses that form ice shards in an AoE. For single-target damage, it can use special attacks like Dash Kick and Snowball, along with the basic feather swipe.
As you level up, get the endgame variant of this boss, Thraeven, Wing of Winter, from the Frozen Falls map. Ad B-tier boss companions in Path of Exile 2 1) Chetza, the Feathered Plague Chetza has a lot of DPS potential (Image via GGG) Another boss from Trial of Chaos, Chetza, can deal good single-target damage. It’s the giant bird that spawns a child halfway through the fight and drops vomit in a large AoE.
The attack has a 30-second cooldown and is something you want to save for stronger enemies, but the boss companions can use it randomly and may ignore the one you’re targeting. Ad 2) The Black Crow or The Crowbell For the early game, pick up the Crowbell (Image via GGG) First encountered during Act 1, The Crowbell is the buff bird boss that uses a giant bell as a weapon. As you can guess, it can swing and slam its bell in a small AoE and can occasionally become enraged.
While it may not be the best companion you can get, it is a good pick early on until you swap for Mighty Silverfist.
