ÖFB Frauen Bundesliga: FK Austria Wien sign legend Verena Hanshaw from WSL side West HamAustria Wien have signed 32-year-old Verena Hanshaw from Women’s Super League team West Ham. The Austrian legend had represented her country more than 130 times and is seen as a coup transfer for both the Bundesliga and Austria Wien.The talented defender has enjoyed spells with Italian giants Roma, German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt and more recently West Ham.
The 32-year-old is the Austria national team’s fifth most capped player and joint-eighth highest goal scorer of all time, despite being a defender. Hanshaw was named in the team of the tournament at the 2017 European Championships.“I’m very happy to be returning to my homeland after 16 years,” Hanshaw said.
“I’m looking forward getting to know all the girls, but also to seeing those I’ve known for a long time from the national team. I’ve watched a few games and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the fans. The atmosphere has always been fantastic, and that makes me even more excited to be able to play here in the [Franz Horr] stadium soon.”
