NSTL holds workshop on future naval stealth technologies

The Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) hosted a two-day workshop titled “Naval Stealth—Beyond 2030” in Visakhapatnam from July 20 to 21.The event convened key stakeholders from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the Indian Navy, defence shipyards, and industry leaders to deliberate on future trajectories in naval stealth technologies, said a press release on ThursdayR.V.

Hara Prasad, Director General (Naval Systems & Materials), inaugurated the workshop. The inaugural session was graced by Rear Admiral Sujit Baxi, Director General of Weapons and Design Bureau (WDB), and Abraham Varghese, Outstanding Scientist and Director of NSTL.The highlight of the event was the official handover of the Technology for Fabrication, Installation & Commissioning of the LM2500 Gas Turbine Infrared Suppression System for Naval Vessels by NSTL to Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).

The workshop witnessed participation from over 125 delegates representing various DRDO laboratories, the Indian Navy, defense shipyards, and industrial partners.Comprehensive technical sessions addressed critical domains, including Radar Cross Section, Infrared Signature Management, Acoustic Stealth, Extremely Low Frequency Electromagnetic (ELFE) and magnetic signatures, integrated multi-spectral stealth concepts, and futuristic technologies envisioned beyond 2030.
