New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani's Beef With Knicks Owner James Dolan Explained
The New York City mayor and the New York Knicks owner seem to have some issues.
Amidst all of the joy and jubilation that has come about in New York City with the New York Knicks snapping the franchise's 53-year long championship drought, there's been a little drama too, and it's between the New York City mayor Zohran Madmani and Knicks owner James Dolan. The origin of tension between the mayor of the nation's largest city, in his first term at the position, and the billionaire entertainment mogul stems back to some mixed messages about a Madison Square Garden watch party for Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Dolan, who turned to a radio interview to bash Mamdani, said that the city had cancelled a planned watch party for Game 3.
Mamdani told a different story, putting out a statement saying that the city had approved a permit from Madison Square Garden to allow a gathering of up to 1,000 fans outside of the stadium for Game 3 of the Finals, a watch party that the mayor's office said Dolan later cancelled. You’re not gonna believe it but MSG has released ANOTHER statement: pic.twitter.

That was stage one of the apparent beef brimming, with stage two apparently unfolding at the Knicks' championship parade on Thursday.
When James Dolan cancels the watch party outside MSG, we bring the watch party to you. Thanks to the @NBA, Knicks Game 4 is now playing on dozens of @LinkNYC screens across our city.LGK.
