Manhunt underway after masked gunman allegedly shoots NYC cab driver in face during overnight robbery

Police in New York City are searching for a masked gunman who allegedly shot a 21-year-old cab driver in the face during an overnight armed robbery in Brooklyn.According to a New York Police Department (NYPD) statement obtained by Fox 5 New York, the incident happened around 4 a.m.

Saturday when the suspect targeted a TLC-licensed livery cab, a vehicle typically used for pre-arranged rides rather than street hails.Authorities said the suspect entered the vehicle and allegedly threatened the driver, demanding money and the keys to the cab.NYPD DETECTIVE, CHILDREN SHOT IN SEPARATE BROOKLYN SHOOTINGS OVER HOLIDAY WEEKENDThe suspect then opened fire as the driver attempted to exit the vehicle, striking him in the face."

Police received reports of the incident at approximately 4:15 a.m.Emergency Medical Services responded and transported the victim to a local hospital in stable condition.
