Presiding over the virtual meeting in Brasilia Sunday, local time, Lee said South Korea, which has grown to become a major global power, stands at the vanguard of AI revolution that will serve as a new turning point in human civilization. The declaration announced on Friday outlines South Korea’s vision to foster the domestic AI industry and enhance global cooperation.

The president said the country has elevated partnerships with global big techs to a level of “AI alliance” after South Korean companies announced mega-sized supply and investment cooperation projects with the global big techs. He then instructed his aides to exert all-out efforts to follow up on the agreements so that they can facilitate the domestic economy make a new leap and bring practical improvement in people’s lives. As he kicked off a tour of three South American countries — Brazil, Chile and Argentina — Lee said he intends to further strengthen South Korea’s diplomacy with the Global South as the continent is an important region with its large population and abundance in natural resources.
