Knicks' title reunited 'Do the Right Thing' cast (and Cam Skattebo, for some reason)
The Knicks really did bring everyone together.
A sports team has a unique way of bringing people together. We saw exactly that in New York City after the New York Knicks dispatched the San Antonio Spurs in the 2026 NBA Finals. Hordes of people who had never shared a single conversation gathered on the streets of all five boroughs to celebrate their beloved basketball team.
What other cultural touchstone in our society is nearly capable of such a phenomenon? Particularly to this degree? I can't think of one.
The Knicks brought New Yorkers everywhere some much-needed community, joy, and in beautiful, rare cases, an earnest chance for friends to reunite over a common cause.Take select members of the Do the Right Thing cast, for example. Director Spike Lee, who also played Mookie in the 1989 classic film about confronting racial tension in a community, is a diehard Knicks fan.
So are actors John Turturro and Giancarlo Esposito, who each played respective supporting roles in the movie. While there was never a formal "break-up" amongst this trio of old friends, they grew apart over the years, the way seemingly so many adult relationships eventually do. They've led different lives over the last 36 years, and it just happened.
Sadly, it always just happens. But the Knicks breaking an extended title drought brought Lee, Turturro, and Esposito back together, among others. They were able to bond over a shared love of their favorite team, which also brought them a new opportunity to reminisce on what once was.
The photo below, which also features New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo crashing it for some reason, is a demonstration of an obvious love that these gentlemen still have for each other after all this time:Do the Right Thing reunion hell yea pic.twitter.com/KJy6db1dXK— Justin🦩Boldaji (@justinboldaji) June 14, 2026Don't let anyone ever downplay how special sports can be for you, for us.
Don't give up a single inch in that regard, either. Not after seeing old friends share a wonderful moment like this. We all know
