Klopp talks intensify as DFB plan key meetings in New YorkOn Sunday, transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano posted on X that it has been decided that Jürgen Klopp will become the new Germany head coach. However, while everything indicates that the 59-year-old, currently Red Bull Head of Global Soccer, will succeed Julian Nagelsmann, German media suggest that there are still a few hurdles to overcome.Bild reports that after Klopp made his desire to take over the role clear, the German Football Association (DFB) have now scheduled two decisive meetings, which will both take place in the United States due to the former Liverpool manager’s role as a MagentaTV pundit during the World Cup.
First, DFB chiefs Bernd Neuendorf and Hans-Joachim Watzke are set to travel to New York to negotiate with Klopp, with a relatively quick agreement expected. However, the second meeting between the DFB and Red Bull boss Oliver Mintzlaff, alongside Klopp, is not expected to be as straightforward.According to Bild, there have been no talks so far between Red Bull and the DFB, but it's reported that Klopp has a verbal agreement with the company allowing him to leave his current role to take over as Germany coach.
Still, an agreement between the DFB and Red Bull still needs to be reached regarding Klopp’s release. It was previously reported that, for the first time in its history, the German Football Association may have to pay a transfer fee to appoint a head coach. However, Bild suggests that as an alternative solution, Klopp could continue to be tied to Red Bull as a brand ambassador, even after stepping into his new role as Germany coach.
