Jantar Mantar protest remarks: DYFI takes out march to T.G. Mohandas’ residence

Activists of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) marched to the residence of Hindutva ideologue T.G. Mohandas at Cherlai in Mattancherry here on Tuesday in protest against his controversial remarks against the student protesters at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi and women activists.

The police stopped them from proceeding towards his home by setting up barricades. The protesters tried to breach the security barrier as they shouted slogans against Mr. Mohandas, who had allegedly stated in a YouTube video that he “would have shot” the protesters at Jantar Mantar if he were in control.

In another video, he had said that secular women who take part in protests “enjoy being gangraped.”The activists of the DYFI asked the government to initiate stringent action against him for making such deplorable comments. They alleged that the police were yet to register a case against him, despite coming across the YouTube video in which he threatened the student protesters at Jantar Mantar.
