Bayern Munich also expressed interest in signing the Netherlands international last summer and remain keen to sign a left-winger this summer.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Liverpool would demand a fee of around £70m for Gakpo. The Reds are using Anthony Gordon’s recent move to Barcelona as a comparative valuation for the 27-year-old.Gakpo has scored 50 goals in 180 games for Liverpool since arriving from PSV Eindhoven, but faced criticism for his performances during a disappointing campaign last term.
He scored nine goals in 52 games across all competitions.The emergence of Rio Ngumoha has also threatened his role as an automatic starter. The 17-year-old’s exciting introduction to the first team culminated in an England debut this summer and Liverpool are keen to avoid blocking his development pathway.
