Is Sean Mannion a potential Eagles head coach in waiting?
NIck Sirianni shouldn't be on the hot seat, but some have placed him there anyway, leading to questions about Sean Mannion's future.
Nick Sirianni's job should be one of the safest in professional football. The Philadelphia Eagles head coach owns a remarkable resume through his first five seasons, including a Super Bowl championship, two conference titles, and one of the best winning percentages in franchise history. More importantly, he has consistently maintained the trust of his locker room.
Past and former Eagles players routinely speak about Sirianni's leadership, and that connection has helped Philadelphia remain one of the NFL's premier organizations. Yet despite all of that, questions about Sirianni's long-term future continue to surface.Recently, Pro Football Focus listed several NFL head coaches entering the 2026 season under pressure.
While Sirianni was not among the primary names featured, he was included as an honorable mention, citing Philadelphia's offensive struggles during the 2025 campaign and lingering questions about whether the Eagles can maximize their talent without elite coordinators."Even though Sirianni owns a staggering 59-26 record with two Super Bowl berths and a title in his first five years with the Eagles, the energy around him has always felt erratic... With a boatload of both expensive and young talent dotting every level of the team, the Eagles figure to be competitive once again in 2026.
But if Philadelphia has an encore performance of a year in which it placed only eighth in overall PFF grade, that very well might not cut it for the uber-aggressive Howie Roseman and owner Jeffrey Lurie."That discussion becomes more interesting when viewed through the lens of Sean Mannion's arrival. The Eagles turned to the first-time offensive coordinator after moving on from Kevin Patullo, hoping Mannion can breathe new life into an offense that failed to meet expectations a season ago.
