Instapaper update adds Liquid Glass, Home Screen widgets, new fonts, more

Skip to main content Today, Instapaper launched version 10 of its iPhone and iPad app with several improvements, along with a major redesign of the web-based platform. Here are the details. ’Our biggest update to the iOS app in over a decade’ Instapaper announced today (via MacMagazine) an update to its iOS app, alongside new AI Voices for the Android app, and an overhauled website.

Instapaper 10 for iOS adds support for Liquid Glass and introduces four reading fonts: Literata: Serif font designed by Google for Google Play Books. New York: Serif font designed by Apple for iOS. Open Sans: Sans-serif font commissioned by Google.

Atkinson Hyperlegible: Sans-serif font developed by the Braille Institute. The update also introduces Home Screen widgets, which Instapaper says can display your current article and most recently saved items, while doubling as a one-tap shortcut to start reading. For iPad users, Instapaper says the update improves multitasking, while both iPhone and iPad users will notice more reliable background syncing, reduced article download times, and a redesigned onboarding.

Instapaper says today’s update is its biggest in over a decade, and it also includes: Section Counts: All sections now display a count of the articles or notes they contain. If section counts feel more anxiety-inducing than helpful, you can turn them off in Settings > Behavior > Section Counts. Section Sorting: To sort your Folders or Tags, tap the “…”

menu next to the section header and choose your preferred sort option. Article List Appearance: We introduced Condensed View, new typography and styles, and an easy way to adjust the article list’s appearance. From an article list, tap “…”

, then tap “Appearance” to adjust styles, fonts, and image thumbnails. Finally, Instapaper completely overhauled its web-based platform, adding features such as a 3-column reader and keyboard shortcuts, while the Android app now supports AI Voices.
