“Failed as a manager”, “Biggest enemy of this team” - Germany fans blame Julian Nagelsmann’s decision despite late FIFA World Cup win vs Ivory Coast

× Germany have beat the Ivory Coast 2-1 in their FIFA World Cup group stage match after coming from behind. The 2014 winners have qualified for the knockout stages of the competition after their back-to-back group stage exits in 2018 and 2022. Ad Julian Nagelsmann's side were in control of the match, before the first hydration break and even had the ball in the back of the net.

However, the goal was ruled out because of a foul on the Ivory Coast goalkeeper. The break in play saw a change in flow, and the African side took the lead at the half-hour mark. Amad Diallo had a shot saved on the line, but Franck Kessie managed to tap it in.

They managed to keep hold of the lead until the break. Ad Trending Nagelsmann brought on Deniz Undav just before the hour mark, and that made all the difference. He scored nine minutes after coming, before getting the winner deep inot stoppage time.

Germany fans are now calling for Nagelsmann to start Undav over Kai Havertz, who failed to impress, and posted: - @MusialaEraWhen even the fans in the stadium are shouting Undav‘s name you know you have failed as a manager. Leaving Germany‘s most in form attacker on the bench because of your bs favoritism. Nagelsmann has once again shown he‘s nothing but an amateur Ad E @Ellis_Undav is 10x better than Havertz ffs.

Nagelsmann needs to stop trolling and start the guy. Ad B. @InvertTheWingI don’t understand why Havertz starts over Undav.

Ad 🧟‍♀️ @crewslovernagelsmann the biggest enemy of this team bc how was undav not a starter for you Ad 👍🏼 @mbrma7iiUndav most G/A at this World Cup, 49 G/A this season, carried Stuttgart to UCL football and he’s still not starting because of Nagelsmann 😂😂 Ad Jonathan Tah spoke about the win over Ivory Coast and said: "This was a win of the mentality, of the team spirit. We never gave up. We kept going and knew they would get tired.

The guys who came off the bench brought tremendous energy. Deniz has shown once again how important he is when he comes on. We knew it would be a tough game because Côte D'Ivoire can play at a very high level.

We have to keep going" Ad Nagelsmann has admitted that he could hand Undav a chance to start in the Ecuador clash next week. He added that the striker has an eye for goal and can help them up front. Germany have some bad news after FIFA World Cup win Nico Schlotterbeck was forced off injured at half-time, and the defender could be set to miss the rest of the FIFA World Cup.

He picked up an injury early in the first half, but continued to play until the break. Ad Julian Nagelsmann spoke to the media after the match, admitting that it was not looking good for the Borussia Dortmund star. He said that the defender was set for scans, but the doctors were concerned.

Germany will face Ecuador in the final group stage match next week, before they get ready for the FIFA World Cup knockout stage. Germany scored seven goals against Curacao in the opening match. × Was this article helpful?
