NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype named the Raptors as a potential team willing to trade for Brown. However, MassLive's Celtics reporter Brian Robb does not expect Boston to acquire Scottie Barnes in any deal."Scottie Barnes is not on the table in any trade talks, a league source told MassLive, which comes as no surprise," Robb wrote on Sunday.
Barnes is only 24 years old and is coming off his second All-Star season. There is no way the Raptors would be willing to give up Barnes for 30-year-old Brown. Toronto would want to pair the two together to create one of the best NBA duos.
The Celtics would likely acquire either forward Brandon Ingram or RJ Barrett, along with possible center Jakob Poeltl and additional draft picks. However, Toronto might not be the best trade partner for the Celtics, as Boston is still focused on winning now. Even if the Celtics trade for Ingram or Barrett, Boston will need to make more moves to remain competitive.
