The decline comes as the government's seventh fuel price cap takes effect and global oil prices continue to ease. According to the Korea National Oil Corporation on Saturday, the nationwide average retail price of gasoline for the first week of July, covering June 28 through July 2, fell 55-point-seven won from the previous week to one-thousand-952-point-one won per liter.

The average retail price of diesel also dropped by 58-point-nine won from a week earlier to one thousand-942-point-four won per liter. The downward trend continued through Saturday, with the nationwide average price standing at one thousand-907-point-64 won per liter for gasoline and one thousand-895-point-72 won for diesel. The government lowered its seventh fuel price cap by 150 won per liter, effective from midnight on June 27.

The maximum prices are now set at one thousand-784 won per liter for gasoline, one thousand-773 won for diesel and one thousand-380 won for kerosene.
