The Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA) has urged the Telangana government to complete the recruitment process for 931 vacant Civil Assistant Surgeon (Specialist) posts under the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP), alleging an inordinate delay in appointments that has left hundreds of eligible doctors waiting for nearly a year.In a representation submitted to the Health Secretary Christina Z. Chongthu on Monday, the association said the recruitment was initiated through the Medical and Health Services Recruitment Board (MHSRB) in August 2025 for filling 1,623 specialist posts under TVVP.
While appointment orders were issued for 692 specialists on April 7, the recruitment process for the remaining 931 posts has come to a standstill, with certificate verification yet to be conducted.“The delay has caused financial hardship, career stagnation and mental stress to thousands of postgraduate specialist doctors awaiting government service. Prolonged delays in recruitment discourage young medical professionals and undermine confidence in the recruitment process,” the association said.
HRDA also contended that the delay is affecting public healthcare delivery across Telangana, as hundreds of specialist positions in TVVP hospitals continue to remain vacant. This has increased the workload on existing doctors, delayed specialist consultations, extended waiting times for patients and compromised secondary healthcare services in government hospitals despite the availability of qualified specialists.
