Depression in the Bay may bring isolated heavy rainfall to North Andhra Pradesh

While the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had initially given a scant rain forecast for most of Andhra Pradesh until July 30, a fresh low pressure system, formed over Bay of Bengal on Saturday, might bring isolated heavy rainfall to the northern part of the State.According to the IMD, the low pressure system intensified into a well-marked low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha-West Bengal on Sunday, and further concentrated into a depression. It was very likely to move northwestwards, intensify further into a deep depression during the next 24 hours and cross North Odisha and West Bengal coasts on July 27 (Monday).

Under its influence, heavy rainfall was likely in one or two places in the districts of Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Parvathipuram-Manyam and Alluri Sitharama Raju until July 29. Strong winds, with speeds of 55–65 km/h, were also expected along the North Andhra coast until July 29, and the sea would remain rough, with high tides, the IMD said and advised people to remain alert.Hot and humid weatherMeanwhile, as predicted earlier this week, there would not be much rain in Rayalaseema and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

While thunderstorm activity and strong winds might prevail in Rayalaseema, hot and humid weather was likely to persist in South Coastal areas until July 29.Temperatures hovered around 40-41 degree Celsius in parts of NTR, Krishna, Markapuram, Bapatla, Guntur, Prakasam, and a few Rayalaseema districts.
