Could the Boston Celtics be trying to turn Paul George picks into Trey Murphy?
At least one connected NBA reporter is hearing they are still in the hunt for the New Orleans Pelicans forward, armed with more picks.
Could the Boston Celtics still be in the market to trade for New Orleans Pelicans rising forward Trey Murphy III even after the trade of Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers? According to recent reporting from USA Today's Michael Scotto, who shares that even in the wake of that seismic move, Boston is among the NBA ball clubs still interested in the Pelicans swingman."Some teams have faded from the Murphy trade conversation," writes Scotto.
"(The) Indiana (Pacers) got Ivica Zubac before the trade deadline. (The) Portland (Trail Blazers) acquired Ja Morant. (The) San Antonio (Spurs) went to the NBA Finals and has since agreed to deals with forwards Harrison Barnes and Tobias Harris in free agency.
The (Los Angeles) Lakers just made a flurry of offseason moves.""Teams that are in the mix for Murphy to varying degrees now are the Celtics, (Detroit) Pistons, (Golden State) Warriors, (Los Angeles) Clippers, and (Atlanta) Hawks," he adds."The Celtics have monitored Murphy’s trade market, and following the Brown trade for Paul George, two first-round picks, and two second-round picks, they have gained extra draft capital that New Orleans has desired in any trade talks," said Scotto.
If Boston can find a way to turn Brown into Murphy (or any younger players with positive value), it might take some of the sting many a fan is currently feeling from the unexpected swap and its underwhelming return. But from the sounds of things, Boston has steep competition in that regard concerning Murphy – if they remain in that hunt at all.Listen to "Havlicek Stole the Pod" on:Blue Wire: https://tiny.
