Connor Zilisch gets candid about his brutal Cup Series learning curve on rookie NASCAR season: “A whole different ballgame”

I was like, "Okay, yeah, this stuff's no joke." And um yeah, I mean, it's it's just a whole different level. The teams, the drivers, um everything is times 10 and and just way more challenging.

"Sometimes I hate my life inside of the car and and you know just want to get out and be be done with the race because we're running so bad, I I just I love the challenge of it. I appreciate how good all the teams and drivers are.
Um and it just makes me better as a driver and and pushes me as a as a human to to want to be better," added Connor Zilisch. Ad Despite the inevitable rookie growing pains and the mental hurdles of navigating heavy traffic on Sundays, Connor Zilisch remains completely locked into his long-term developmental path. So far, Zilisch has accumulated one top-15 finish and three top-20 finishes in 16 starts this 2026 season.

um you know if I'm racing against someone else I'd probably race a little rougher and um but I know Shane I mean some last year in the Xfinity race or whatever it was you know he could have just shoved me out of the way like anybody else would have in the last corner and he didn't." [18:7 onwards]Moreover, Connor Zilisch was completely candid in admitting that other drivers on the grid won't get the same courteous treatment. While a gentleman's agreement works perfectly on Saturdays, all bets might be off when the premier division checkered flag is on the line on Sunday.
