× Portugal were held to a 0-0 draw by Colombia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup which condemned them to a second-place finish in Group K. Ad Roberto Martinez's men were totally outclassed by a spirited Cafeteros side, but some heroic goalkeeping from Portugal's Diogo Costa helped them salvage a draw. In what's essentially his last World Cup group stage clash, Cristiano Ronaldo came up woefully short of influencing the proceedings.
Colombia's resolute defense never gave him enough space to work into while also blocking two of his shots. Néstor Lorenzo's side grew increasingly threatening after the break, creating chance after chance to leave Portugal on the ropes. But a breakthrough was still elusive.
When Davinson Sanchez finally scored in the 92nd minute, the goal was ruled out for offside by the smallest of margins. Ad Trending With seven points, Colombia won Group K and will face Ghana in the Round of 32 whereas Portugal come up against Croatia in another tough-looking clash. Here are the player ratings for Portugal: Portugal Player Ratings Diogo Costa - 8.
5/10 Portugal's man of the match with six vital saves. He's the single biggest reason behind his team walking away with a point tonight. Joao Cancelo - 6/10 The full-back attempted to create chances with a few hopeful crosses but they were cleared by the Colombian defense.
Hooked at the break in a surprise change. Ad Ruben Dias - 7.5/10 He remained calm under pressure and was never caught out of position, making vital clearances to mop up everything in front of him.
Renato Veiga - 8/10 Another centre-back who came up big for Portugal tonight, Veiga was a monster at the back with a staggering 15 defensive contributions, including four blocked shots. He struggled a bit against Jhon Cordoba's physicality though. Nuno Mendes - 6/10 Santiago Arias had Mendes in the pocket tonight, rendering him ineffective offensively.
He also left a lot to be desired in defense and failed to make a single tackle or clearance. Ad Ruben Neves - 6/10 Neves struggled against Colombia's aggressive style of play. He was also slow on the ball, looking ponderous whenever he tried to pick out a pass.
Vitinha - 7/10 He made up for Neves' no-show in midfield by running tirelessly and covering every blade of grass. His distribution was excellent too, completing 100% of his passes. Pedro Neto - 6.
5/10 A pacy winger but the final product was sorely lacking. Disappointing throughout the game. Ad Bruno Fernandes - 6/10 The Manchester United playmaker struggled to make any mark in attack for Portugal during the initial exchanges, even missing a great chance in the 39th minute, but looked livelier by comparison as the match wore on.
He should be doing more in counter-attacking situations though, with Fernandes showing no urgency in tracking back whenever Colombia looked to hit them on the break. Joao Felix - 6.5/10 Colombia's deep-block meant he didn't really have much space to work into.
But in that one real chance Felix had, the forward's tame effort was blocked. Ad Cristiano Ronaldo - 5/10 Another ineffective display from the Portugal talisman. Colombia's stoic backline meant he was forced to operate from a slightly deeper role in the attack and couldn't offer a direct threat.
Also lacked pace, which at 41, isn't surprising. Substitutes Diogo Dalot - 7/10 A massive upgrade on Cancelo, making his presence felt at both ends of the pitch. Joao Neves - 6/10 He was subbed in to help Portugal regain control of midfield but even this Neves came up woefully short of matching Colombia's style of play.
Ad Samu Costa - 6.5/10Struggled to get involved as Colombia threw the kitchen sink in the last quarter of the match.Rafael Leao - 7/10Injected some flair into Portugal's attack and came close to scoring on a few occasions.
Matheus Nunes - N/ACame on to see the game off. × Was this article helpful? Thank You for feedback Quick Links More from Sportskeeda Edited by Nived Zenith Portugal were held to a 0-0 draw by Colombia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup which condemned them to a second-place finish in Group K.
