Goalkeeper: Alisson – BrazilThe latest in a long lineage of great Brazilian goalkeepers, Alisson will hope he can secure the World Cup success that is perhaps required to truly join the Selecao’s shot-stopping icons. At 33, this could be his final opportunity. Alisson was recently voted the 16th greatest player in Liverpool’s history.

Right-back: Jules Ryerson – NorwayJules Ryerson has dropped to the bench for each of Norway’s last two games, but the Dortmund defender will hope to regain his place this evening. Ryerson was outstanding in the Bundesliga last season, providing 15 assists from right-back.Centre-back: Marquinhos – BrazilOne of the most decorated footballers in history will hope to add the sport’s biggest prize to his glittering CV this summer.

After captaining PSG to back-to-back Champions League crowns, Marquinhos knows what it takes to win on the big stage. Only five players have ever played more games for the Selecao.Centre-back: Gabriel – BrazilGabriel was a colossus in Arsenal’s Premier League title-winning team last season and partners Marquinhos in an all-Brazilian centre-back partnership here.

The 28-year-old is a massive presence in both boxes for Brazil.Left-back: Douglas Santos – BrazilA late bloomer, the 32-year-old went nine years between his Brazil debut in 2016 and cementing himself as a regular in the side. Santos, who has since won 11 senior caps, has won six Russian Premier League titles with Zenit St Petersburg, who he captains.

Midfield: Bruno Guimaraes – BrazilOnly Michael Olise (5) has provided more assists at this summer’s World Cup than Bruno Guima
