According to police, the bodies were found at around 7:30 p.m.
on Tuesday. Broadcaster NTV quoted police as saying the two were Kazuaki Yanai, 31, a a self-employed man, and Yukari Nagasako, 39, a part-time worker. Nagasako was found in a bed with multiple stab wounds to her back, while Yanai was found hanging in another room, suggesting suicide.
Yanai was a resident of the apartment, and Nagasako was his girlfriend, police said. In the early hours of Monday, a friend of Yanai called 110 reporting that the couple were having a heated argument about breaking up. Police officers arrived, but the two were intoxicated and denied any trouble.
As some of the couple’s friends were also there, police determined that no action was needed and returned to the station. Then on Tuesday, at around 6:20 p.m.
