BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao on Monday demanded immediate action against the ‘illegal’ institutions allegedly linked to the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), claiming that the government was ignoring High Court directions. He warned that the BJP would launch a large-scale public agitation against the Congress government and the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) if action was not taken.
Speaking at the BJP State office during the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mukherjee, Mr. Rao alleged that while HYDRAA was ‘ruthlessly demolishing’ the houses of poor residents in Hyderabad, it had failed to act against ‘illegal structures’ linked to the MIM. Referring to the Fatima Educational Institutions, he claimed that rules had been ‘clearly violated’ and that the Education department had informed the High Court that the institution lacked the required permissions.
“Despite this, no action has been taken because of the Congress government’s friendship with the MIM,” he alleged. HYDRAA, he said, must function impartially, arguing that there cannot be ‘one justice for the poor and another for MIM’.Mr.
Rao alleged that while the BRS government had turned the ₹1.3 lakh crore Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project into an ‘ATM’, the present government was attempting to create another ‘ATM’ through the proposed Pranahita-Yellampally-Chevella project.Criticising both the Congress and BRS, he described their exchanges over alleged corruption in the Kaleshwaram project as ‘political drama’.
He accused the government of delaying repair works despite reports from the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA), which had conducted technical and geotechnical assessments of the project. The BJP leader further alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had failed to take meaningful action against those responsible for irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project and had limited the response to ‘nominal’ action against a few officials.
Paying tribute to Syama Prasad Mukherjee, Mr. Rao praised his role during Partition and his contribution towards strengthening nationalism.Meanwhile, BJP Legislature Party leader A.
Maheshwar Reddy wrote to the Chief Minister seeking an increase in the recently notified recruitment of 7,437 police posts, noting that nearly 20,000 vacancies remained unfilled. He also demanded a White Paper on government recruitment and vacancies filled since the Congress came to power, withdrawal of cases against protesting students and changes to GO 46, which he said had adversely affected candidates from rural areas.
