The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Educators’ Wing urged the State government to intervene following widespread distress among thousands of teachers over the exceptionally high difficulty level of the recently concluded Special Teachers Eligibility Test (TET).BJP Educators’ Wing State Secretary Calvary N. Thyagarajan in his petition to the Chief Minister C.
Joseph Vijay highlighted that the question papers for the two-day examination were tougher compared to that of previous years.According to the representation, thousands of candidate teachers across Tamil Nadu expressed deep anguish over the nature of the test.Educators who have been rendering educational services for several years expected the evaluation to align closely with their classroom teaching experience and the prescribed school syllabus, he added.
“Instead, the questions were allegedly on a par with advanced, high-level competitive examinations, leaving a majority of the candidates unable to complete the paper fully and deeply distressed over their future prospects,” the representation noted.Emphasising the need to protect the welfare, job security, and mental well-being of the teaching community, the cell has urged the Tamil Nadu government to take immediate action on humanitarian grounds. They demanded that the State government either conduct a re-examination for the Special TET or award adequate grace marks to compensate for the unusually tough paper.
Additionally, they have called for a relaxation in the qualifying pass marks and requested a swift, favourable announcement from the government so that the careers of these experienced teachers are not jeopardized.
